Dr. Richard E. Roth is originally from Philadelphia. He received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduation he was commissioned as an officer in the US Army Medical Corps, where he completed his internship and served three years as a US Army Flight Surgeon. In 1997 Dr. Roth was named US ARMY Aeromedical Center Flight Surgeon of the Year.

Upon completing active duty in the military, Dr. Roth was chosen for residency training in ophthalmology at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, the oldest eye specialty hospital in the western hemisphere. Dr. Roth was named Chief resident and was selected for the Austen T. Gray Memorial Scholarship award. After graduating from residency, Dr. Roth accepted a fellowship position in the ophthalmic sub-specialty of Orbital and Facial Plastic Surgery (drrichardroth.com). Dr. Roth spent additional time in fellowship training for Corneal and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Roth is certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
